Hi @BigScribs. We do not recommend using ShadeFin Mini while under power. However, it has performed well in 25 mph winds when anchored, at the sandbar or drifting. Regarding removing from the rod holder mount, yes, we would advise it be disassembled and stowed when moving.

We always recommend using common sense when operating any of our shade products. We would also recommend removing it from the mount when under power.

Thanks for your question. What to do with the slack line is often a personal preference to the angler, but many use our Outrigger Line Caddies. The caddies enable the line to be securely wrapped while underway or for storage. We've really seen it all and it is entirely dependent on personal preference. Then, in most cases, too high of presure causes air sac membranes to be stretched, and weakens it to the point that it will collapse when oxygen pressure is removed. The air sac membranes are too weak, and must be kept open by continuous pressure until the lungs are blown out. If you dont consider this, then YOU are part of the problem.

Thanks for your comment. Actually, the black ShadeFin Mini did a fantastic job at keep us shaded and cool. It did not get hot under the shade. We tested this for hours in the hot Florida sun. We also have the ShadeFin available in white if you're still worried about black.

Thanks for your question! Captain Ray Rosher of Miss Britt Charters said, "I use wax line tied with overhand knots to create the thickness that stops each clip. The distance between clips varies between 60 feet and 90 feet depending on wind velocity and how many baits I am fishing. I stop my shortest clip with a stainless steel swivel not the floss line. You bring up an excellent point however there are a few other considerations that must be taken into account. These include target species, depth of water, natural or artificial baits being presented, class of tackle, prevalent conditions, trolling speed, etc. On this particular day, if I recall correctly as it was many years ago, this was the magic spread for the feathers and jets we were pulling for schoolie blackfin tuna. Fortunately, we never ran into an issue with numerous juvenile fish in the 5-10 pound class. However we both know that there is rarely if ever one particular trolling spread or pattern that is ideal across the board, and certainly trolling spreads vary wildly from angler to angler and from boat to boat. We're constantly making fine tune adjustments based on the above factors and more. At the end of the day, I always encourage seminar attendees and viewers that if something is working for them, then to stick with it and share even more of the details so we can all become more effective anglers.
